Jet Airways, Kingfisher Fly Higher on Etihad's likely India visit

Aviation stocks were flying higher on Wednesday on reports that key executives from Etihad Airways' are likely to visit India this week to evaluate potential investment opportunities in Indian carriers. While KFA was up 5%, Jet too climbed 3.7% higher on this news. SpiceJet was also up around 4%.

CNBC-TV18 has learnt from sources that executives are scheduled to meet Jet Airways  and Kingfisher Airlines  top officials. It is also learnt that Etihad's senior executives have been favouring Jet, but decision in this regard is not yet finalised.

Meanwhile, Jet has expanded its code-share agreement with Etihad Airways for the Abu Dhabi-Paris route on Monday. The two airlines already have a similar arrangement for Abu Dhabi-Mumbai/Delhi routes operated by Jet Airways, and the flights originating from Abu Dhabi for Mumbai, Delhi, Cochin, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Chennai and Hyderabad operated by Etihad.

Jet is the only Indian airline to have code sharing pact with Etihad . Code-sharing allows an airline to book its passengers on its partner carriers and provide seamless transport to multiple destinations where it has no presence

Sources said Jet has been considering minority stake sale of up to 20 percent while debt-laden Kingfisher Airlines, which has debt of over Rs 7,000 crore, was looking at majority stake sale. Kingfisher sought fresh equity infusion of at least USD 400 million, sources added.

Liquor baron Dr Vijay Mallya is also in discussions with several investors for equity partnership, including Gulf-based Etihad Airways . The company has however denied any deal with any of them, even as it lost five more aircraft due to non- payment of lease rentals and tax dues. "We would like to clarify that the company is in discussions with various investors, including Etihad Airways, for equity investments," Kingfisher said in a filing to BSE.

Kingfisher Airlines Is No more an Airlines ?
Stares at licence suspension

Grounded Kingfisher faces another hurdle in getting airborne again.

NEW DELHI: Crisis-ridden Kingfisher Airlines could be on the verge of having its flying licence suspended. Like scores of its unpaid employees, vendors and service providers, the aviation ministry is also going to look for real money - and not just promises or timelines to pay - in the reply the airline has to file to Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)'s notice by Saturday.

Unless convinced that Kingfisher has the resources to operate as a schedule airline and maintain its timetable of flights with full safety, highly placed aviation authorities say they will go for licence suspension. "Kingfisher is on cash and carry by most service providers. We do not want a situation where the airline restarts operations and then keeps flying in fits and starts whenever its unpaid employees are not on strike and the service providers refusing to service it. We have seen enough of that since last November," said a senior official.

A formal decision on the airline's licence could be taken next week. "Kingfisher has not even asked for extension of the 15-day deadline to reply to the same. We have not even heard from the airline brass since October 2 when they were summoned to explain their position. Kingfisher promoter Dr Vijay Mallya is expected to be in Delhi next week as the Formula One Indian Grand Prix will take place at Greater Noida and that time he may speak what he has in mind for the airline," said an official.

Shekhar

Dear Fellow Pilots,

I am a Professional Pilot with more then 8  years experience of Flying on 10 different types of Air crafts in 14 different countries with accident free flying record. I started my flying career from Skycabs    [ Colombo ] and worked for many Airlines Training Companies from different parts of the world.

We have trained more then 350 Pilots who are now flying world wide. I am a member of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association [ USA], Royal Society of Aeronautics [ UK], Delhi Flying Club, Aeronautical Society of India, MP Flying Club Indore, Aeronautical Research Society.

I am a frequent flyer on AA, Air India, Air Canada, British Airways, Cathey Pacific, Delta Airlines, Emerites, Ethihad, Jet Airways, Kingfisher and many more. These all Airlines halped me to visit more then 14 different countries.

I  came back from Canada and London on an Invitation of Govt  of Canada for Mission To Canada.  I am so Thankfull to Mr Vittal of Govt of Canada and Mr  Wayne Gouveia VP of the  Air Transport Association Of Canada  (ATAC)  without whom's lot of help and Guidance  the Mission would not be possible.

Now something on my personal front:

I like to travel, collect coins and stamps and explore new avenues  and possibilities and turn them to my advantage. For me my friends are my biggest assets.  I still miss my Cow Boy friends and their  hospitility. For me these Cow Boys are more fashionable and Smart  guys then any Airline or corporate Pilots.

I have a small Farm House [ Asiatic AgroTech Research Center ]  at Gram Gunawad, Dist Dhar Madhya Pradesh India where We grow medicinal plants and herbs. We are also into organic farming (which apparently is the latest fad) of wheat and soyabeans.

I love challenging jobs, that no Pilot would venture into, Flying an Aircraft on a scheduled route daily is just not my cup of tea. Nor can I just sit and make a software for flight simulator like all other software companies make.

I am an explorer by nature and I know it comes with a price but for which I am always willing to pay. I do not fear the unknown but believe riding high on it.

My upcoming Books

Always remember Takeoff is optional Landing is compulsory

I have been planning to write this Blog for quite some time,
but each time some or the other reason kept me from flying
into this part of the Blogging world.

So now here I am .

I am a Professional Pilot with more then 8  years experience
of Flying on more then 14 different types of Air crafts in
more then 14 different countries with accident free flying record.  I started my flying career from Skycabs    [ Colombo ] and worked for many Airlines Training Companies from different parts of the world.

I am a frequent flyer on American Airlines AA, Air India, Air Canada,British Airways, Cathey Pacific, DeltaAirlines, Emerites,
Ethihad, Jet Airways, Kingfisher and many more.

My most recent passion is Air Aviator a new proposed virtual
Air Charter Services and Aviation SEO for which I personally
conduct classes/ lecture series for IIT & IIM students in
India and others in abroad.  Also We are updating 14 Aviation
NEWS blogs for many countries.

I am so excited about our new Indo - French Joint venture
AsiaticAir Air Campus where we are going to trained Pilots
for most mordern A 320 and B 737. India alone has more then 7000 Un Employed Pilots in India and aprox 3000 in other South Asian countries. Out of these 10,000 Pilots our Aim is  just 750 Pilots in next 3 years time frame.

Now something on my personal front:
